TMJ Disorders

Our doctors have extensive training and experience in diagnosing and treating chronic and acute TMJ problems.

Facial and neck pain, as well as severe, recurring headaches, may be due to Temporomandibular Disorder, also known as TMD, or sometimes TMJ disorders.

The lower jaw bone connects to the skull by the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), muscles and ligaments. These joints are used often throughout the day for routine activities such as speaking, chewing, swallowing and yawning. Experiencing pain in and around these joints can be uncomfortable and may even restrict movement.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF TMJ DYSFUNCTION (TMD)?

  • Pain in the jaw area
  • Pain, ringing or stuffiness in the ears
  • Frequent headaches or neck aches
  • Clicking or popping sound when the jaw moves
  • Muscles spasms in the jaw area
  • Changes in bite alignment
  • Locked jaw or limited opening of the mouth
